What is the purpose of GRC / GFRC?
Uses as a Concrete Facade

What is a Concrete Facade?

To understand why GRC / GFRC can be used to create sleek architectural beauty, we must first understand what a concrete facade is.

A concrete facade in architecture refers to the exterior surface of the building, in which the external design is a front for the interior. By utilising different colours, styles and characteristics, this front can characterise whole developments.

Large scale continuity in these developments is so important when crafting stylish and streamlined buildings or other forms of infrastructure such as plazas, tunnels or even whole sustainable communities.

GRC / GFRC in Developments

The West-End residence in Glebe is a great example of employing GRC / GFRC panels across a whole development. The design and purpose of the housing was taken into account by architect ‘Turner,’ who decided to employ GRC / GFRC in the process favouring the lightweight concrete panelling / Cladding due to its ease of installation. The simple, yet streamlined panels complement the city landscape, allowing the development to mesh with its surroundings.

The West-End residence in Glebe has become a prominent figure in the forefront of the landscape.

GRC / GFRC in existing structures

GRC / GFRC can also be used to improve and modernise existing structures by reimagining patterns and creating artwork out of already present forms. An update to a building’s facade can sometimes be vital to market or re-brand organisations who are looking to improve their public image.

Chadstone shopping centre has incorporated GRC for multiple shopfronts and brands to increase marketability. High end brands Mulberry and Ralph Lauren employed AuGRC to install precast GRC panelling / GRC Cladding to improve the credibility and integrity of the shop front as well as synergising the marketing campaigns with a high end physical appearance.
